But if you’ve had your house regularly deep-cleaned, or if your landlord will charge you for cleaning anyway, you can save costs by DIY-ing it. A basic house cleaning typically includes tasks like carpet cleaning, wiping countertops, taking out the trash, doing the laundry and washing dishes. A deep house cleaning is a much more involved process, where all aspects of the home are given full attention for a cleanout. How often you require cleaning services also affects the cost. Regular appointments (weekly or bi-weekly) may come at a discounted rate compared to one-time services. The size of your home is a primary determinant of cleaning costs.

Whether you’re buying, selling, or renovating a house, knowing the exact square footage will help you make informed decisions and ensure fair transactions. Census data is currently available, the average size of a house in the U.S. was 1,660 square feet. By 2015, the average square footage of a home increased to a whopping 2,687 square feet, although since then, it’s begun to drop.
What’s the average square footage of a house?
In an effort to find a healthy balance for this struggle of wanting a larger house, I did some research into the average home size for the United States. The information that I discovered has proven to be very helpful to combat the popular narrative of always wanting a larger home. Being able to make decisions about our home without this hassle would mean buying a single family home (SFH). By its very nature, a single-family home is going to be larger and more expensive. As you might imagine, SFHs also come at a premium in an urban setting.
When should I consult a professional for square footage?
The material is lighter and more impact resistant than natural slate but doesn't last as long. A natural slate roof costs $10 to $30 per square foot installed or $22,000 to $70,000 on average. Slate is one of the most durable and long-lasting roof materials, but installation may require structural reinforcement to support the added weight. Once again, we tackle a widespread issue that, despite the complications which might arise in real life, has some rather simple maths beneath it. The calculations of square footage pricing are, mathematically, the simple division of the price of a specific property by its total square footage.

It is also possible to convert in the other direction by applying this method, i.e., from a different unit, like square feet to square meters. We will now show some examples of conversions to and from square footage. Therefore an alternative way to assess house sizes is to use only “new construction” data, which is not bad because such data is most up-to-date. The drawback is that it doesn’t reflect old construction houses in which many people live. The average Nevada home has gone from modest to jumbo since the beginning of the 20th century—home size increased by 191 percent in Las Vegas alone.

"For move-up homes, the average range is 1,700 to 2,500 (this includes an extra bedroom). Here, find out the best home square footage for your family. It’s important to remember that these statistics represent national averages. The median price per square foot and average home size can vary significantly from one region to another. Factors such as local housing market conditions, population density, and cost of living may influence these numbers. It’s always recommended to research and consult local market data for accurate and up-to-date information. Understanding the dimensions of a house and how they contribute to its overall size is essential for various purposes, from determining property value to obtaining building permits.

In smaller suburban communities, the average home size is slightly larger than the statewide average, and pricing works out to about $85 per square foot. If you have a finished area connected to the house by a finished hallway or stairway, the subsequent area may be included in the home’s total square footage. However, finished areas connected in any other way (like by an unfinished hallway or staircase, for instance) won’t be included in the home’s total square footage. Understanding the square footage of a house is crucial for a variety of purposes. It allows homeowners to accurately determine the value of their property, set the appropriate asking price when selling, and obtain building permits for renovations or new constructions. To put these numbers into perspective, let’s take a look back at the past.
Multi-Family Vs. Single-Family Property Investments: A Comprehensive Guide
It’s important to note that different standards may apply to various property types. For example, attached single-family homes or townhouses may have distinct guidelines for measuring square footage compared to detached single-family homes. Specific criteria for what is considered livable square footage may vary depending on local regulations and the standards followed by appraisers and real estate professionals. However, the general rule is to exclude areas that are not suitable for everyday living. As a buyer it can be helpful to know how to calculate the square footage of a house yourself – just multiply the length and width of all applicable rooms in the home.
In 1950, the average home size in the country was just 983 square feet. Over time, homes have become larger to meet the evolving needs and lifestyles of homeowners. However, it’s important to note that this figure can vary depending on the location. Certain regions or cities may have higher or lower median prices per square foot compared to the national average. Understanding these measuring square footage standards and guidelines is vital to ensure accurate and consistent measurements of the size of properties.
Let’s explore how to measure the square footage of a house and the importance of accurate measurements in the real estate market. As a general rule of thumb, basements usually do not count towards the square footage of a house. For a basement to increase a home’s square footage, it must meet certain criteria to be considered livable space, and such criteria can vary between states. Your local county assessor’s office determines whether appraisers can choose what is considered square footage towards a home’s Gross Living Area.
Similarly, in San Francisco, there are 17,376 people per square mile – the second densest population of any major U.S. city. In a dense city with natural growth boundaries like San Francisco, high density coupled with demand can drive the price of housing sky high. The average home in San Francisco costs $1,074.34 per square foot, the third most expensive real estate of any city in the country.

Mobile home roof replacement costs $3 to $8 per square foot on average or $1,500 to $9,600 for a single-wide and $3,000 to $16,000 for a double-wide, depending on the material.

Her work focuses on exploring and reflecting “genius loci”—the spirit of place in multi-scale spaces of urban areas through landscape intervention. To this day, there are many important landscape architecture firms that, despite their profound impact on the urban environment, get less coverage than other architects. To put this right, we’ve put together a collection of some of the best landscape designers on the planet. Explore these key firms and their projects, and if your favorite is left out, make sure to let us know in the comments. Situated in the heart of downtown Chicago, the Crown Sky Garden is a sanctuary for patients, families, doctors and administrators within this 23 story Children’s Hospital. The commitment to this sky garden was built upon a growing body of scientific research which links access to natural light and contemplative spaces to reduced patient recovery time.
In 2019, Mikyoung Kim took home an AN Best of Design Award for the project in the Unbuilt – Landscape category. I think that the world becomes a better place when designers invest a lifetime of practice, like in music, in finding a voice that brings whimsy, resiliency, and transformation to our everyday lives. My advice is the same for everyone — care about something, work on things that are beyond short-term rewards, and work hard for the people who have entrusted you with their future environment. When I was in college at Oberlin Conservatory, I developed tendonitis in my left wrist and arm and had to pause all work that I was doing on the instrument. At that time, I was so grateful to have the opportunity to take other classes in the college and began to study environmental art, sculpture, and art history. I was fascinated by both the land art movement as well as work by Noguchi who worked in more urban environments.

Distinguishing the firm’s work is its decidedly agricultural aesthetic and approach to urban sites. MDP prefers to introduce flexible frameworks and planting strategies that create varied, unpredictable densities and textures, unlike the prescribed manicured spaces that are the rage today. Through this approach, MDP projects play with time and succession (vegetation growth, ephemeral experiences brought on by seasonal changes), thus acquiring vast quantities of anticipation and possibility. I could bring five different wigs in, and she'd love and want to wear all of them. It was no problem, I didn't get a lot of pushback. It was the best thing ever — I was able to express my creativity."
Included in the exhibit are four recreations of wigs Lil' Kim wore in the late '90s and early 2000s, done by her then-hairstylist, Dionne Alexander. Alexander, now based in Dallas, was part of a team that included stylist Misa Hylton and makeup artist Nzingha. Unusually, Otello is a Moor, a Muslim who has converted to Christianity, married a noble Venetian and risen to the highest rank in the Venetian armed forces. In the summer of 2023, he appears with Aspen Music Festival as the Voice of the Oracle (Neptune) in Idomeneo, also covering the role of General Benjamin in Jimmy Lopez's Bel Canto.

The Royal Ballet
It is the home of The Royal Opera, The Royal Ballet, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. The first theatre on the site, the Theatre Royal (1732), served primarily as a playhouse for the first hundred years of its history. Many of his operas and oratorios were specifically written for Covent Garden and had their premieres there.

In addition to the Pulitzer, he has received numerous awards, including those from the Kennedy Center Fund, American Theatre Critics and the Humana Festival for New American Plays; as well as grants from the National Endowment of the Arts and the Rockefeller Foundation, among others. The Mexican baritone is a great favorite at the renowned Berlin State Opera, appearing there in leading roles of Rossini, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Gounod, Massenet and Puccini. Acclaimed Verdi portrayals in other venues include Stankar in Stiffelio and Francesco Moor in I masnadieri (both at Berlin’s Konzerthaus), Ford in Falstaff (Hamburg, Bologna), and Germont in La traviata (Hamburg, Tokyo). Also in Europe, he has sung roles as diverse as Dandini in La Cenerentola (Rome), Sir Robert Cecil in Britten’s Gloriana (Hamburg), and Scarpia in Tosca and Hermann in Catalani’s Loreley (both in St. Gallen, Switzerland). New York credits include Forever Dusty for New World Stages, Pinocchio's Ashes for Theater for a New City and The Saint of Bleecker Street at Dicapo Opera Theatre, among others, and he has worked at numerous regional opera and theater companies around the country.
And in Katie Mitchell’s and Robin Tebbutt’s revival production of Donizetti’s tragic opera, the singing is inarguably superlative. The Royal Opera House takes safety and security extremely seriously and we work to protect our staff and visitors at all times. You will see our highly trained security officers at all entrances and exits conducting bag searches and patrolling our spaces. Behind the scenes we operate a 24/7 security control room and regularly conduct emergency exercises to ensure we can respond quickly and effectively to any serious incidents. Our front of house staff and security officers are trained to deal with emergencies, detect suspicious behaviour and provide first aid. Please always speak to a member of staff if you are concerned or are seeking assistance in any way.
The Royal Ballet will also welcome Cassa Pancho's Ballet Black back to the Royal Opera House to continue their association with the Linbury Theatre. This company of Black and Asian classically trained dancers will present a dynamic mixed programme by Olivier-award-winning choreographers Mthuthuzeli November and Will Tuckett. Yorke Dance Project also return with a programme of works that juxtaposes past and present, celebrating choreographers who have indelibly shaped dance today. Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels Festival, an exciting new partnership with Van Cleef & Arpels, will present a selection of established works alongside new pieces of choreography. The Season will also see more new work on the Main Stage in a contemporary mixed programme (to be announced) that includes the world premiere of a work by Kyle Abraham.
Further information on the festival will be announced by the Foundation in due course. The Royal Opera House (ROH) is a historic opera house and major performing arts venue in Covent Garden, central London. The large building is often referred to as simply Covent Garden, after a previous use of the site.
I have no doubt that the Royal Opera House, along with other houses, will be eager to engage him further. The company presents around different operas a year with no single focus, albeit a slight preference towards 19th Century works. Audience tastes lie somewhere between the USA and Europe, strongly traditional productions mixing with starkly contemporary ones. The average audience age is high but that is somewhat dictated by the inevitably high price of the tickets. In June 2024, The Royal Opera is delighted to be returning to Japan on tour for the first time since 2019 with performances at Bunka Kaikan Theatre and NHK Hall in Tokyo, and Kanagawa Kenmin Hall in Yokohama. Antonio Pappano will be conducting spectacular casts in Oliver Mears’s darkly elegant production of Verdi’s Rigoletto and Andrei Șerban’s classic staging of Puccini’s Turandot.
Among his final projects, he had designed a new Ring cycle for Lyric Opera of Chicago; the first three Ring operas premiered there posthumously between 2016 and 2018. The numerator of the F-test, for the hypothesis you want to test, should be based on the adjusted SS's that is last in the sequence or is obtained from the adjusted sums of squares. That will be very close to what you would get using the approximate method we mentioned earlier. The general linear test is the most powerful test for this type of situation with unbalanced data.
Model
The row effect is the order of treatment, whether A is done first or second or whether B is done first or second. So, if we have 10 subjects we could label all 10 of the subjects as we have above, or we could label the subjects 1 and 2 nested in a square. This is similar to the situation where we have replicated Latin squares - in this case five reps of 2 × 2 Latin squares, just as was shown previously in Case 2. We want to account for all three of the blocking factor sources of variation, and remove each of these sources of error from the experiment.
Mean Squares

Graphic design and marketing are heavily linked to each other, with the former often determining the latter’s success.
ANOVA Display for the RCBD
We can test for row and column effects, but our focus of interest in a Latin square design is on the treatments. Just as in RCBD, the row and column factors are included to reduce the error variation but are not typically of interest. And, depending on how we've conducted the experiment they often haven't been randomized in a way that allows us to make any reliable inference from those tests.
Blocks are usually treated as random effects, as they would represent the population of all possible blocks. In other words, the mean comparison among blocks is not of interest. But the variation between blocks has to be incorporated into the model and will be partitioned out of the Error Mean squares of the CRD, resulting in a smaller MSE for testing hypotheses about treatments. Here, the number of rows to be specified is our block size (and number of treatment levels), which yields a random assignment from Block 1.
A Guide on Data Analysis

Inside TurboTax's 20-Year Fight to Stop Americans From Filing Their Taxes for Free.
Driving experience in this case can be used as a blocking variable. We will then divide up the participants into multiple groups or blocks, so that those in each block share similar driving experiences. For example, let's say we decide to place them into three blocks based on driving experience - seasoned; intermediate; inexperienced.
If we add subjects in sets of complete Latin squares then we retain the orthogonality that we have with a single square. The degrees of freedom for error grows very rapidly when you replicate Latin squares. But usually if you are using a Latin Square then you are probably not worried too much about this error. The error is more dependent on the specific conditions that exist for performing the experiment. It depends on the conditions under which the experiment is going to be conducted.
Therefore, one can test the block simply to confirm that the block factor is effective and explains variation that would otherwise be part of your experimental error. However, you generally cannot make any stronger conclusions from the test on a block factor, because you may not have randomly selected the blocks from any population, nor randomly assigned the levels. Formal test of interaction effects between blocks and treatments for a randomized block design. Can also considered for testing additivity in 2-way analyses when there is only one observation per cell. What we now realize is that two blocking factors is not enough!
Block a few of the most important nuisance factors
This gives us a design where we have each of the treatments and in each row and in each column. The original use of the term block for removing a source of variation comes from agriculture. If the section of land contains a large number of plots, they will tend to be very variable - heterogeneous. An alternate way of summarizing the design trials would be to use a 4x3 matrix whose 4 rows are the levels of the treatment X1 and whose columns are the 3 levels of the blocking variable X2.
An assumption that we make when using a Latin square design is that the three factors (treatments, and two nuisance factors) do not interact. If this assumption is violated, the Latin Square design error term will be inflated. The RCBD utilizes an additive model – one in which there is no interaction between treatments and blocks. The error term in a randomized complete block model reflects how the treatment effect varies from one block to another. The partitioning of the variation of the sum of squares and the corresponding partitioning of the degrees of freedom provides the basis for our orthogonal analysis of variance. By extension, note that the trials for any K-factor randomized block design are simply the cell indices of a k dimensional matrix.
The cells in the matrix have indices that match the X1, X2 combinations above. Gender is a common nuisance variable to use as a blocking factor in experiments since males and females tend to respond differently to a wide variety of treatments. If the number of times treatments occur together within a block is equal across the design for all pairs of treatments then we call this a balanced incomplete block design (BIBD). Here is an actual data example for a design balanced for carryover effects.
If we conduct this as a blocked experiment, we would assign all four tips to the same test specimen, randomly assigned to be tested on a different location on the specimen. Since each treatment occurs once in each block, the number of test specimens is the number of replicates. Many times there are nuisance factors that are unknown and uncontrollable (sometimes called a “lurking” variable).
A nuisance factor is a factor that has some effect on the response, but is of no interest to the experimenter; however, the variability it transmits to the response needs to be minimized or explained. We will talk about treatment factors, which we are interested in, and blocking factors, which we are not interested in. We will try to account for these nuisance factors in our model and analysis.

The tale, its characters, and its plot can elicit suitable empathy, repulsion, and consternation in us all. British Mezzo Rachael Lloyd delivers a touching, compassionate performance as Lucia’s Maid and companion, another voice I would have liked to have heard more of. Former Jette Parker member, Uruguayan tenor Andres Presno, is cast as the luckless Arturo Bucklaw whose competent tenor voice is evident in an all too brief appearance, his singing role rather eclipsed by the salacious shenanigans that precedes his demise.

Alongside these exciting new works will be revivals of Royal Ballet signature classics and audience favourites including Giselle, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, works by Frederick Ashton, and Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet. The Royal Ballet also presents the world premiere of Christopher Wheeldon’s new full-length ballet Like Water for Chocolate, based on the Mexican novel of the same name by Laura Esquivel. This co-commission between The Royal Ballet and American Ballet Theatre reunites Wheeldon with composer Joby Talbot, costume and set designer Bob Crowley and lighting designer Natasha Katz. Esquivel worked with Wheeldon to shape the text of her magical novel into a scenario for the ballet. Internationally acclaimed conductor and official cultural ambassador to Mexico Alondra de la Parra returns to the Royal Opera House to conduct this ballet, and act as musical consultant for Talbot’s newly commissioned score.

Jules Hardouin-Mansart and Carlo Vigarani presented the King with different designs for a theatre (the idea at the time was for a Ballet Hall), but none of them really pleased the sovereign. Louis XIV turned his attention instead to the construction of the Royal Chapel (1710). In January 2022 we celebrate the 75th anniversary of The Royal Opera company, which first came together as a company at its Covent Garden home on 14 January 1947 in a performance of Carmen. For The Royal Opera’s Season in the Linbury, Little Bulb Theatre returns to the Royal Opera House for the world premiere of their magical new Christmas show for family audiences. The Linbury Season also sees the world premiere of a new opera, The Blue Woman, by composer Laura Bowler and librettist Laura Lomas.

Future seasons include appearances in Berlin, London, Toronto, Chicago, Houston, New York, and Washington, D.C. Inaugurated on 16 May 1770 for the feast for the wedding of the Dauphin and the Archduchess Marie-Antoinette, this extraordinary theatre was used only 40 or so times before the Revolution (the cost, although high, was not the only reason for its limited use). It was used for royal weddings and to honour foreign sovereigns, for whom balls or shows were organised. The theatre was last used for a celebration of the French Court on 18 July 1784, when a ball was given in honour of the King of Sweden Gustave III. The Banquet of the Guards, five years later on 1st October 1789, was the last event held here during the Ancien Régime.

In 2017, she opened her own production company, 19TEATRO, together with other theater professionals. In the past, many performances of “Lucia di Lammermoor” were staged purely to illustrate the vocal prodigiousness of the soprano in what is, unequivocally, one of opera’s most challenging roles. Whenever the role is mentioned, the cognoscenti will undoubtedly hark back to those efforts of the late great, Dame Joan Sutherland. Even contemporary reviews of the opera will recall and, sometimes, even compare the Lucia of the day with that of the Dame. If any of that prayed on the mind of THIS performance of Lucia, Nadine Sierra, then not only did it not show, but she was, seemingly, intent on setting a few benchmarks of her own. Perhaps ALL the artists here mutually agreed to start proceedings gently as she, too, announced her entry with a touch of diffidence.

That's why the significance level should be stated in advance and not adapted conveniently after the p-value has been established! A significance level of 0.05 is the most common value, but there's nothing magical about it. Here, you can see what too strong a faith in the 0.05 threshold can lead to. It's always best to report the p-value, and allow the reader to make their own conclusions. 🙋 If you want to revise some basics from statistics, our normal distribution calculator is an excellent place to start. The minuscule letter resembles the majuscule, the chief difference being that the loop is brought down to the level of the line of writing and the vertical stroke is extended below the line.
Meaning of P, p in English
Use the χ²-score option when performing a test in which the test statistic follows the χ²-distribution. With cruise holidays starting from just two nights, British Isles cruises are an ideal way to take time out from a busy lifestyle. A low p-value is evidence in favor of the alternative hypothesis – it allows you to reject the null hypothesis.

Well, you now know how to calculate the p-value, but… why do you need to calculate this number in the first place? In hypothesis testing, the p-value approach is an alternative to the critical value approach. Recall that the latter requires researchers to pre-set the significance level, α, which is the probability of rejecting the null hypothesis when it is true (so of type I error).

Throughout its known history it has represented the unvoiced labial stop. It corresponds to the Semitic pe, perhaps deriving from an earlier sign for "mouth." The Greeks renamed this form pi (Π). Dining options are plentiful and include formal restaurants, food courts, tapas bars and pizzerias. During days at sea, relax at the pool, try out the sports court or catch a new movie in the onboard cinema.
A Great Big List of Bread Words
The Umbrian alphabet had a two-stroke form that recalled the ancient Semitic, and Faliscan had a rounded form that resembled a modern P flipped right-to-left. Oscan lengthened the second small vertical stroke found in the Umbrian form, and the result was similar to the Greek Π. To see where those degrees of freedom come from, consider the independent random variables X and Y, which both follow the χ²-distributions with d1 and d2 degrees of freedom, respectively. In that case, the ratio (X/d1)/(Y/d2) follows the F-distribution, with (d1, d2)-degrees of freedom. For this reason, the two parameters d1 and d2 are also called the numerator and denominator degrees of freedom.

Lighthouses are scattered along the picturesque coastline where whale watching is a major draw. Head further south and you reach the most iconic of American cities - New York. There's something truly breathtaking about gliding serenely by the Statue of Liberty - a sight that has greeted millions of travellers before. New York cruises have to be on everyone's 'must do' list for that sight alone. Finally, the F-score option should be used when you perform a test in which the test statistic follows the F-distribution, also known as the Fisher–Snedecor distribution. The exact shape of an F-distribution depends on two degrees of freedom.

The probability distributions that are most widespread in hypothesis testing tend to have complicated cdf formulae, and finding the p-value by hand may not be possible. A Z-test most often refers to testing the population mean, or the difference between two population means, in particular between two proportions. A high p-value doesn't allow you to reject the null hypothesis. A common digraph in English is ⟨ph⟩, which represents the sound /f/, and can be used to transliterate ⟨φ⟩ phi in loanwords from Greek. In German, the digraph ⟨pf⟩ is common, representing a labial affricate /pf/. The Semitic Pê (mouth), as well as the Greek Π or π (Pi), and the Etruscan and Latin letters that developed from the former alphabet, all symbolized /p/, a voiceless bilabial plosive. The English initial p is slightly aspirated—that is, it is accompanied by a slight puff of breath—in contrast to the unaspirated p of French, for example. Initial p is silent in the combinations ps and pt in such Greek-derived words as psychology and pterodactyl. A rounded form occurred in the early Greek inscriptions from the island of Thera. The standard rounded form in the Latin alphabet was evidently borrowed from the Etruscan, but the colonial Latin alphabet of the 3rd century bce also shows an angular form resembling the Chalcidic.
Once you have your p-value, you just need to compare it with any given α to quickly decide whether or not to reject the null hypothesis at that significance level, α. For details, check the next section, where we explain how to interpret p-values. We use the Z-score if the test statistic approximately follows the standard normal distribution N(0,1). Thanks to the central limit theorem, you can count on the approximation if you have a large sample (say at least 50 data points) and treat your distribution as normal. For instance, if the p-value was 0.03, we would reject the null hypothesis at a significance level of 0.05, but not at a level of 0.01.

It’s a cruising rule of thumb to pack a carry-on bag for anything you want to do on the first day. The more you can pre-plan, the more time you will save later, and maybe even money. Even people that cruise a lot find value in a travel agent for making the entire process easier.
Their content is perfect for cruise veterans and new cruisers alike who are looking for reliable information about their next travel. As cruise lovers, we prefer to be on board in the middle of the sea than being on land, even virtually.
